Gravel Red Acutek returns to Flick with his latest release which is already picking up support from Truncate, Nicole Moudaber, Anja Schneider, Luke Slater to name a few. The opening track, Combat Conditions, pairs a bubbling bassline with deep drums, filtered stabs, and delay-soaked arpeggios. Both spacey and vibrant, Acutek manages to balance a laid-back style with forward-moving attitude. Perfect for any situation from 5AM warehouse settings to soundtracking a rainy summer’s day. Acutek brings the tempo down for Kaleidoscope. Moody, dark, and unrelenting; behind-the-beat hats and a killer bassline keep the track grooving amidst a heavy soundscape of cavernous pads and stabs. Subtle variations in the percussion keep the listener intrigued throughout the track. Intense but irresistible nevertheless. Gravel Red keeps the BPM steady but opts for a more soulful and heady vibe. The standard combination of reverb-drenched stabs, crunchy drums, and an enthralling bassline makes for a pumping and hypnotic masterclass from the deeper end of the techno spectrum. Over the course of three tracks, Acutek once again proves himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the Scottish techno sphere.
