In broad strokes, 'Still But Moving' captures within a phrase a perspective of contrast that is foundational to Anhad + Tanner’s creative process - the balancing between organic and electronic sounds and spaces. On a more personal level, these words draw on the evolution the duo has experienced throughout the course of the pandemic. Having released their debut album in 2020, the following years felt like an all-consuming pause button was pressed, where many of their goals and developments that were in motion seemed to slow to a standstill as the cycles of quarantining and lockdown became familiar. Upon starting back up with the writing process in 2022, on music that would eventually find its place on this album, the two realized that surprisingly so much growth had happened in that stillness nonetheless. The music that forms this record tells a story of the somewhat paradoxical experience of stagnation and flourishing, solitude and connection, and of stillness and movement.
