Adeus, by Arthur Melo

Adeus by Arthur Melo, released 02 June 2020 1. Bem Vindo (Vila do Calango) 2. 2012, o Ano Bege 3. A Última Solidão 4. Letargia 5. Agonia 6. Barreiras N.1 7. Tempo, Após um Contratempo 8. Amor & Fantasmas 9. Presença / Saudade (Vila Velha, Janeiro, 2020) 10. De La Pra Cá / Trafegar 11. Barreiras N.2 12. Procissão 13. Adeus 14. Enquanto Eu Caio Adeus is my third album, the writing process started in late 2019, the album says a lot about losses, loneliness, emptiness, death, ghosts of the past, anguish, past traumas and present melancholy that I decided to face in the form of music During the writing process I thought about calling my partners and regular friends to produce and record together, but right from the first sessions I felt an urgency and need to do it myself, mainly because it was my most personal, sincere, erroneous and real album, I wrote about things that before I didn't have the courage to put it on paper, with this need to be as transparent as possible came the lyrics and songs I did the entire production, mixing and mastering process at Vila do Calango in Belo Horizonte, Brasil, completely alone in the conversations with myself during the process I saw that it would be interesting to try to bring a sound that reminds me ghosts, shadows and autumn, the lyrics talk a lot about these haunts of the past, writing about and remembering I was able to think about how I would like these haunts to become visible in the form of the sound, which is what is on the record Autumn is very present during the album because it is the season in which I was born and which I feel most welcomed. Somehow I tried to bring to the songs the same feeling I have when I feel the first autumn winds that make me shiver Despite being a very cold and melancholic album, there are moments of escapes in which the lyrics and music bring an idea of overcoming certain situations Rhythmically, the album is heavily influenced by Brazilian music from the 60s and 70s like Caetano Veloso e Milton Nascimento, but also talking to Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and mixed with the current references ranging from Daft Punk to Devendra Banhart's freak folk. The visual and lyrical concept of the album resides on the normal, day to day earthling lives we, or most of all, live. The trilogy of music videos for the album (all three available on YouTube) demonstrates the melancholy, anger, anguish and deception the comes with this human life which we don't have the right to decide what we want to do, so what remains is melancholy and the desire to escape, through drugs, alcohol, earth desires, sexual pleasure and cheap romance. All this is showed on the videos through the character Malmequeres, a normal citizen with a normal job that has a collapse after the abysm of life hit his soul and left him desperately in need to escape his reality. 'Adeus' is a goodbye, to the live you don't want to live, to the people you don't relate anymore, the job you hate and to the world you don't belong.
