The Devil in the Orchard, by Lambs & Wolves
The Devil in the Orchard by Lambs & Wolves, released 31 March 2023 1. Prologue 2. Devil in the Orchard 3. Mother 4. More Clouds 5. Blue Tales 6. Suzanne 7. Saltwater 8. Ghost's Fingers 9. Carry It All 10. Taming the Shrew 11. Devil in the Orchard (Reprise) New album "The Devil in the Orchard" (out March 31, 2023) The tradition of US-American folk is at the very heart of Lambs & Wolves' story. The band – Julian Tröndle, Louis Groß, Stefan Bercher and Jamie Craig – all met at college in Freiburg, Germany, and bonded over a mutual love of literature and poetry by postmodern authors like Denis Johnson and singing lyricists like David Berman (Silver Jews) and Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief). However, novels and headphones would soon be swapped for piano and guitars as Lambs & Wolves began writing warm, melancholy songs that have made them probably the least 'German-sounding' folk band today. As engaging as Lambs & Wolves' sound, Julian Tröndle's lyrics paint a sensitive, nebulous portrait of everyday life, thriving on a sense of floating ambiguity. Through ghosts, weather phenomena, and other elements of nature writing, he transforms personal experiences into a rich allegorical cosmos. Drawing comparisons to Andrew Bird, Sufjan Stevens and early Bright Eyes, the band will now release its second album in two years. An extensive tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland with its predecessor "Not a Party At All" was first postponed and then cancelled altogether due to the Corona pandemic. With "The Devil in the Orchard" they are starting a new attempt to bring the songs to the stage, facing the challenge of presenting not just one, but two albums live.
