But Israel insists that al-Sharif was the head of a Hamas terrorist cell, a claim the UN, Foreign Press Association and major broadcasters say doesn’t have sufficient evidence to back it up. There is some evidence that al-Sharif was a former Hamas employee and, at some point, a supporter.
