Some Pokemon require max happiness to evolve, and there are multiple ways to do this. *One of the most basic ways is by walking. (Riding your bike works as well) For every 256 steps, your Pokemon will gain 1 happiness point. If it is holding a soothe bell, it will gain 2 points for every 256 steps. *Another method is by the Haircut brothers, and they can be found in the goldenrod tunnel. (And if you don't know what it is, go past the Pokemon center and cut between the game corner, past bills orange house, and into the white building.) There are 2 brothers, A younger and an older one. The younger brother is cheaper but is not as experienced, and if he happens to give you a max result haircut, it'll boost your pokemons happiness by 10 points- Alot more than the older brother will (If the older brother gives max result you'll get maybe 7-8 points.) The older brother is more expensive, but he's more likely to give you better results. Depending on the results- it will say something like this "_____ (<--pokemons name) looks a little happier." (low result) "_____ looks happy." (Average result) "_____ looks delighted!" (Max result) (NOTE: The haircut brothers will only appear after you get the national dex, which you can get by beating the elite four and heading to Kanto on the S.S Aqua.) * The last method is DAISY, and she can be found in pallet town in the Kanto region. Everyday around 3 to 4, you can head to her house and talk to her to get your Pokemon groomed for you- free of charge. It will increase hapiness by 2 or 3 points.
