How do you know when a Pokemon has max happiness? - Answers

There are two ways to check a Pokemon's Happiness. The first way is to go to the man who lives in the hut on the beach near Pastoria City. He will ask you to show him your Pokemon, and he will be able to determine your Pokemon's Happiness from it's footprints, and he will tell you afterwards. The other way is to get the Poketch App from Eterna City. Go there, and go into the Pokemon Centre. There is a lady standing in the middle who will give you the Happiness Checker Poketch App. Find it in the Poketch (it is the one with all your party Pokemon moving randomly around the screen.) Get your stylus and put it on the Pokemon you wish to check. Push down, and the Pokemon will stop. If no hearts appear, it doesn't like you very much (this very rarely happens.) If one heart appears, it is relatively neutral, and doesn't love you nor dislike you. If two hearts appear, getting progressively bigger, it likes you quite a lot. If three hearts appear, with the last one being really big, your Pokemon is happy. This is really good, as you will be able to do Happiness evolutions and use the move Return. If you wish to make your Pokemon happier, try giving it the Soothe Bell (given to you by one of the ladies in the Pokemon Mansion, south of Hearthome City) and use lots of Stat Items on it. There are also Berries which will make them more friendly, but they will lower the stats of your Pokemon, so these are not recommended. Other things that will make a Pokemon happier are levelling up, getting Pokemon massages from Veilstone City and the Resort Area, and simply by walking around. Please note that walking takes a long time (256 steps to go up one happiness level, about 300 happiness points need to be gained before it is happy.) Also, if you happen to have a Luxury Ball, try to catch a Pokemon in that and it will become happier more quickly.
