In the early 1980s, Hank Magnuski (KA6M) requested a block of IPv4 addresses for Amateur Radio from Jon Postel and in 1981 the "Class A" address block of 44.0.0.0/8 was allocated for amateur radio digital communications.  This address space has been variously known as AMPRnet, Net-44, and 44-net. ARDC Foundation sold a fourth of the addresses to fund an endowment which is used to further amateur radio and digital communiocations, education including scholarships, and research through the issuance of grants. This sub-group is to discuss the use and management of the remaining address space which is 44.0.0.0/9 and 44.128.0.0/10
