Ashley Beedle & Opolopo Remixes, by Azymuth

Ashley Beedle & Opolopo Remixes by Azymuth, released 27 May 2013 1. E Mulher (Ashley Beedle 'Afrikanz On Marz' Remix 2. E Mulher (Ashley Beedle 'Afrikanz On Marz' Dub) 3. Carnaval Legrand (Opolopo Remix) 4. Carnaval Legrand (Opolopo Dub) FAR OUT RECORDINGS IS PROUD TO PRESENT TWO CLASSIC AZYMUTH TRACKS MASTERFULLY REMIXED BY THE MIGHTY HAT-WEARING PRODUCERS ASHLEY BEEDLE AND OPOLOPO. TAKEN FROM THE FORTHCOMING MAY RELEASE OF ‘AURORA REMIXED’ (2xCD), THESE 4 CUTS WILL KEEP DANCEFLOORS HEAVING AROUND THE GLOBE THIS SUMMER. Aurora ‘Remixed’ is an electrifying album that mirrors, like for like, the tracklist of the original 2011 release, with remixes and re-edits specially commissioned from some of today’s most in-demand producers. On the A-side of this 12”, Far Out family friend and producer extraordinaire Ashley Beedle, slows down the tempo of ‘É Mulher’, grabs elements of Bertrami’s original melody and shapes them around a seriously funky bassline to deliver a spaced out groover of epic proportions. The remix is accompanied by a slick dub version with darker connotations, deep spacey synths and a deliciously liquid low-end. Dub version exclusive to the vinyl release. On the B-Side, Far Out meets for the first time with Swedish producer Opolopo. After being hugely impressed by ‘Mutants’, a collection of his remixes for Tokyo Dawn Records, (including the massively popular rework of Gregory Porter’s ‘1960 What?’) the label approached the talented producer for a remake of ‘Carnaval Legrand’, a classic Azymuth tune that Bertrami dedicated to the great Franco-Armenian arranger and composer Francisco Legrand. While maintaining the original samba doido (crazy samba) spirit and melody, Opolopo counterpoints infectiously funky keys with rolling filtered percussion and sub-end drops to create a tougher remix, ready for the 2013 dancefloor. The dub cut does away with the main melody for a more stripped down version that brings deep stabs and choice elements of the funky keys to the fore whilst maintaining a deep and driving groove.
