Where Demons Hide, by Deerborn
Where Demons Hide by Deerborn, released 28 August 2020 1. Figured Out 2. You Better 3. Dance In Silence 4. Can't Find my Way 5. Where Demons Hide 6. Paperkite 7. Call Out My Name 8. You've Been Bent 9. Remember It's been four years since Deerborn released their debut album 'Crash and Burn' to critical acclaim in Denmark and Germany and now they're finally ready with new tunes. Their second album 'Where Demons Hide' will be released on Celebration Records on August 28. In many ways it is a new Deerborn we meet in 2020 as the group's self-proclaimed ‘dark americana' has been given more textures, a deeper gorge and a haunting obscurity. The five member have all become fathers since the debut was released and are now divided over a larger geographical area. Besides that leadsinger and songwriter Lasse Nørby has also bought a 200-year old farm which is quite a time-consuming project. Time has also been spent on evolving and developing the musical expression of Deerborn and they have a really special and unique take on the classic quiet/loud rockformula. The band has created a versatile album, alternating between the explosive and the smoldering entrapment, where both Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine and Grinderman emerge on one’s retina. The album takes off with the latest single 'Figured Out', which in an excellent way shows Deerborn's mature grip on the classic and timeless rock song. 'You Better' drags itself away with a fuzzy ball & chain gang vibe and naturally leads into the hammond-twisted energy-filled ‘Dance In Silence'. Then comes the album's first muted moment with the thoughtful ballad 'Can't Find My Way', which is followed by title track and lead single 'Where Demons Hide’ with all of its alluring obscurity and desperate explosion. The equally dynamic and expressive 'Paperkite' builds a perfect bridge to the spherical and introspective 'Call Out My Name' and 'You've Been Bent', where you are allowed to breathe before the album rings out with 'Remember' with a karthasis of hard-hitting energy. 'Where Demons Hide' is a journey into the darkness, but at the same time a mature realization and self-reflection that makes one wiser about himself rather than getting lost in despair. It will be released on August 28 on various vinyl version (colored and black) and streaming. The new album will be celebrated with a releaseparty on August 27th at Dexter, Odense. Everyone is welcome. »Step out of the dark and into the sun.«
