But then I started having so much fun with the music that I made it my primary focus. For the next two years I made daily musical sketches using whatever instruments I could get my hands on. My songwriting process often mimicked my visual artistic process – gathering ordinary items and collaging them together in joyfully odd ways. This collection of short songs became my sketchbook – a place for spontaneous experiments and a sprawling curiosity. This album came out of the desire for total unrestrained freedom and exploration. And my wife's unerring advice, "Do whatever the hell you want!" I hope that spirit comes through in the music.
