George Wood

I am a sociologist and computational social scientist. My research focuses on social inequality and discrimination, particularly in the areas of policing, gun violence, and the criminal legal system. I am interested in applications of causal inference and machine learning in the social sciences. <br><br>I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Social Statistics at the University of Manchester. Previously, I was Moore-Sloan Faculty Fellow in the [Center for Data Science](https://cds.nyu.edu) at New York University, where I taught [Responsible Data Science](/projects/rds/). I completed my postdoc at Yale and Northwestern under the supervision of [Andrew Papachristos](http://www.papachristos.org) and my PhD at the [University of Oxford](https://www.nuffield.ox.ac.uk/).
