Pondering this. I think it’s helpful to think of these things as being ephemeral. I always identified as an “artist” as I was coming into adulthood, my career and found it comes with a lot of pressure and fuel for the ego, and yeah, that thing about immortality and legacy. It didn’t help that my outlet was mostly via social media and the internet, so while I identify as an “artist” I still haven’t had a gallery show of my own because it was always easier to just post things online and let that be it. I’ve started writing and drawing my first picture book and I’m really excited about it but I find myself halted by the notion that it’s going to last and therefore it has to be perfect. I’d like it to just exist for its own sake. I’ll keep working on it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here
