Feminist Science on Smarter Techies

Interesting, and really impressive you could do this in a non-academic environment. I took the academic route (have a PHD), learning multiple programming languages and statistics through necessity of having to complete my very data intensive projects. Fortunately, I could sign up for workshops/classes at the university as I completed my studies. I remember being an undergraduate, in the early 2010s interviewing for something and I told them about my "Excel skills" and the interviewer replied that "Excel is useless" so I started self-learning Python and added advanced stats classes to my course work. I found that I really loved coding and statistics (I had hated the computer classes I had taken freshman year) and now primarily do data science.
