As you will be aware, the binary number system has a base of 2, meaning that all numbers can be represented using the necessary combination of only 2 digits (0 & 1).For this reason, all computers (in fact all electronics) use binary. This is because all electronics work on the fundamental principle of either setting something (or many things) as ONor setting it as OFF. There are two alternatives. We can use 0 & 1 to represent this. Binary is the most logical way for us to translate something physical like flicking a switch/pressing a button/magnetising a sector on a computer's hard disk etc. into data. All data on your computer is thus stored as a combination of 0's and 1's.Clearly without computers and electronics society would be extremely different than it is today, so you can see that we rely on it hugely.
