The cruciform heel profile has arms which point at right angles to the shoe sole length direction. The rib of the heel pointing towards the toe is extended from this cruciform heel and this extended rib covers the centre of the flexible instep part. The cruciform heel is formed by four concave cavities around the heel. The extended ribbing ensures that no ice or snow is able to lodge between the instep cavity as the ski passes through snow. Lateral and longitudinal serations on sole and heel provide the gripping surface.
