Does shadow have a mother? - Answers

In Final Fantasy 6, it is overwhelmingly strongly implied that Shadow has a mother; he can equip and benefit from the Memento Ring, an item which supposedly channels a maternal spirit to ward off instant-death effects. Additionally, while it is not expressed explicitly, it is quite likely that Shadow is Relm's elder brother and that they are orphans. Perhaps it can be said that they were deprived of having a mother for most of their lives, but they most certainly had one at some point. In any case, clarification needed on which "Shadow" is being referred to.
