Dry fire springfield xd 45 acp? - Answers

I highly recommend you buy snap caps, yes i know you must dry fire the XD upon disassmbly, however the XD has a roll pin through the top of the slide that retains the striker assembly. Too much dry firing can damage that pin, i know cuz i did it, bunch of dry fires and my first 50 rounds box of ammo and the pin was already broke, split right down the middle. Theres several places that offer upgraded Striker Retainer Pins, go to pistolgear.com and pick up some, along with a roll pin punch to install. The pins are only a couple bucks, a cheap investment for something that IS going to break eventually.
