🙋 One of my fondest memories of young adulthood was lying in the sun (Invercargill so less chance of skin damage 🤔) and listening to cricket tests unfolding - must have been weekends or holidays I guess. It was my chosen summer school sport. Now as an adult I often check in with "live" action on written media sites so as to monitor important games, and now they are videoed can watch "highlights" when all the chores are done at night - somehow even without children there is too much else to prioritise sitting in one place watching a game! When I say I used to also play Chess, you might understand how I appreciated test cricket, & now ODIs to a lesser extent - what moves (fall of wickets, good batting from one or two or more) happen at an earlier point always impacts who wins in the end 🤷 And yes, there are a lot of positive things about growing up & liviing in Aotearoa that we take for granted - as well as the greater provision of outdoor areas & in this case cricket grounds, I would imagine more resources for the individuals showing promise from schools, parents, clubs etc. Easy access to coastline & native bush is the lynch-pin of my mental health in these uncertain times (& I agree with Jim about the current crop of our politicians in power🤬)
