Also, just saw the Reddit thread. I got to interview Barefoot's winemaker back in February (she's been the winemaker there for 30 years!!!) and she said their goal is "fruit-forward" wines, even their Chardonnay, which let's face it is rarely that fruity. My WSET instructor called such wines "Precise", which is a word I've always thought was spot on - more "honest" wine will be wilder, more "interesting", but these kinds of mass marketed wines will be TARGETED, and very precise to what tates good (or at leats okay) no matter what your palate.
