It's always interesting when you ask someone whose in full herd mentality mode why they're doing the thing they're doing. You always get weird responses like, "It's just easier," or "Isn't it obvious?" And then if you push farther and they have the patience, you get that confused pause followed by "Huh. Why ARE we doing it this way?" I've been on both sides of that conversation.
