These musings on ambition are very interesting. I think that's what's missing for our generation (I'm an Old Millennial) is a sense of moral ambition. Ambition not to achieve or to enjoy, but to do what's right in our public and private lives. Most of the people that I know are highly moral, but they don't have a language to talk about it--and I think most liberals come to their politics from a strong sense of right and wrong, but Democratic politics has lost that language. That moral dimension of politics is what new political leaders need to capture in order to be effective.
