There are first hand accounts of the slave experience in Missouri, held by the Missouri Civil War Museum at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis. These were stories taken down in relation to the 1930s writing projects. Interviews with very old individuals who were slaves as a child, so possibly not accurate in some respects as it is an old person trying to remember their childhood. Yet the accounts are remarkable and in many cases are in alignment with other sources.
