A Day Of The Sun, by Masahiko Togashi & Isao Suzuki

A Day Of The Sun by Masahiko Togashi & Isao Suzuki, released 21 February 2025 1. A Day Of The Sun 2. Birth Of Yellow Eggs 3. Lonely Blue 4. Creatures In The Deep Blue Sea 5. Silvery Flash 6. Awakening Of The Fresh Green 🗻 SOUND FUJI / KING Jazz RE:Generation album! 🥁 Selected by Yusuke Ogawa (Universounds). High quality download available for the first time! - Artist: Masahiko Togashi & Isao Suzuki - Title: A Day Of The Sun - Label: Paddle Wheel / King Records - Original release year: 1979 - Original catalog number: GP-3187 Drummer Masahiko Togashi and bassist/cellist Isao Suzuki had both collaborated in the past with Sadao Watanabe’s groups, but A Day Of The Sun, released in 1979, was the first time they recorded together. Suzuki came up with the concept of the album, and it was recorded by just the two musicians using overdubbing. Although there were significant differences in their musical styles, Togashi said at the time, “If we have a mutual understanding and consensus, I think we can create something very interesting and varied.” The result was a very interesting record, indeed; an incredible album packed full of scenic and emotional portraits, created through a rich mix of synthesizer and piano timbres, exotic rhythms, and heavy basslines. The title of the record – and the concept - relates to the change that can occur between day and night. Following the success of this collaboration, the pair teamed up with pianist Hideo Ichikawa to start the trio Trinity, recording two more albums together. Recorded February 1-3, 1979 at King Records Studio #2, Tokyo. Masahiko Togashi: Drums, Percussion, Synthesizer, other instruments Isao Suzuki: Bass, Piccolo Bass, Cello, Piano, other instruments Find track number 1 “A Day Of The Sun” on vinyl on the WaJazz: Japanese Jazz Spectacle Vol.II - Deep, Heavy and Beautiful Jazz from Japan 1962-1985 - The King Records Masters compilation at https://wajazz.bandcamp.com/album/wajazz-japanese-jazz-spectacle-vol-ii-deep-heavy-and-beautiful-jazz-from-japan-1962-1985-the-king-records-masters-selected-by-yusuke-ogawa-universounds !
