Edo Komoriuta 🗻 SOUND FUJI album! 🎸 Japan’s guitar hero Takeshi Terauchi reworks traditional songs and lets everything go wild with his magnificent and frenzied guitar sound. Enter the electrifying world of Eleki! High quality download available for the first time. - Artist: Takeshi Terauchi & Blue Jeans - Title: Let's Go Eleki Bushi - Label: King Records - Original release year: 1966 - Original catalog number: SKK 179 In January 1965, Takeshi Terauchi and his musicians accompanied Yuya Uchida to open for the now legendary and seminal The Ventures. In terms of career highlights, it was difficult to top this achievement at the time. Terauchi took a new creative step when he started looking inwards to Japan for inspiration. The album Let's Go Eleki Bushi, released in 1966, brings Terauchi to new heights. The cover, where the whole band can be seen in traditional dress holding electric guitars, is a statement of intent – giving listeners a hint as to what they can expect from the album. A meeting between traditional folk songs and the unique way Terauchi and his band play, the content is explosive, inspired, and devastatingly modern despite the traditional origins of many of the tracks. The record opens with “Tsugaru Jongara Bushi,” a folk song from Aomori prefecture in the northern part of the main Japanese island, Honshu. At the time, no one had ventured so drastically onto the East-meets-West musical road. “Tsugaru Jongara Bushi” soon became one of Terauchi’s signature songs (it was also released as a single the following year) and he went on to re-record it a couple of times – most notably for an intoxicating and feverish two-track collaboration with shamisen player Michiya Mihashi in 1967. Leader, Guitar – Takeshi Terauchi Bass – Shirō Ishibashi Drums – Fumio Kudō Guitar – Kunihiko Kase Organ (Electone) – Hachirō Suzuki Rhythm Guitar – Kazuo Okamoto Get the Eleki Bushi 1966-1974 vinyl compilation in all good record stores worldwide and at https://180g-takeshiterauchi.bandcamp.com/album/eleki-bushi-1966-1974 Enjoy! — SOUND FUJI explores King Records' legendary catalog and unearths exceptional, rare and unknown musical gems from Japan.
